Largs Salvation Army Shop – November 2013- 

I volunteer in the Salvation Army shop in Largs.   I operate the till, welcome and talk with customers, collect stock donations, prepare stock to go onto the shop floor.

Qingyuan Polytechnic College – Febuary 2013 – 

Working as a college lecturer in Qingyuan, Guangdong, China, for students studying the Joint TAFE qualification with Brisbane North TAFE college Australia.   Classes taught included, Health and Safety, Manage Projects, Conducting a Marketing Audit.

Cambridge Language School – September 2012 – January 2013

I was working as an English as a second language teacher in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province, China. I went out to four different schools out with our centre, teaching English to students between the ages of 3 – 12.

Football Coaching – Voluntary July/August 2012

I recently completed a Scottish Football Association Coach Education Course and gained a certificate in Club Coaching. Over the school Summer holidays I have been coaching school children on a voluntary basis.

Toy Academy – Foreign Language teacher 2011/7-2012/2

Based in South Korea, I taught English as a foreign language, to children between the ages of 3 and 10. I taught phonics, storybooks and general early education subjects; science, mathematics, plants, animals, feelings, transport and much more.

Pueblo Ingles – Volunteer 2011/3-2011/2

I spent 8 days as a Volunteer on a Pueblo Ingles programme in a village in Spain.   The programme involved 15 Native English Speakers and 15 Spaniards who spoke English as a second Language.   English was the only language spoken on the programme, with the idea being that it would help the Spaniards improve their English by having to communicate in ‘English only’ for the 8 days.   

Lochbarr Services -  General Assistant  2010/01 – 2011/5

I was in charge of a football facility with indoor and outdoor pitches, in the evening.   My duties included taking bookings, dealing with enquiries and cancellations.   I was responsible for handling money from bookings and making sure all bookings were recorded are correct.   I also served on the bar when required selling alcohol, soft drinks/energy drinks and light snacks.

Mitchells & Butlers – Bar & Catering Assistant 2009/06 – 2009/10

I was employed as a Bar & Catering Assistant for a large company called Mitchells & Butlers.   I was based at Glasgow Airport working in various bars owned by the company.   Duties included serving on the bar, cash handling, stock replenishment, serving meals and clearing tables.

Disclosure Scotland – Data Processing Clerk 2007/3 – 2008/5

At Disclosure Scotland I was responsible for the processing of information supplied by applicants who wanted to work with children and/or vulnerable people.   This experience has made me aware of confidentiality and Data Protection Procedures.

Personal Interests

My personal interests include playing five-a-side football and watching football and rugby.   I also play both lawn and ten pin bowling.   Other pastimes I enjoy are fishing, rowing, skating, occasional sailing, curling, country walks and playing pool and snooker.
