In this role, I have been trained in motivational interviewing in a one to one capacity and in the delivery of cognitive behavioural therapy in group settings. The cognitive behavioural therapy is designed to change the offending thought process into a prosocial thought process to reduce the future risk of reoffending. I have worked with adult male offenders who have committed a range of offences in a Category C prison from drug dealing to rape. I am currently experienced in delivering high intensity treatment to sex offenders.

July 2010- February 2012             Volunteer student, HMP Kingston, Portsmouth      

In this role, I gained experience in questioning prisoners about their offending and various administrative tasks in the psychology department. I used this oppurtunity to gain knowledge about what a prison consists of and how it works to punish offenders and rehabilitate them. This was a Category B prison and gave me experience of the security restrictions of such a setting.

February 2010-July 2010              ACRO Bureau Operator, Hampshire Constabulary  

In this role as police staff, I was trained in the use of the police national computer (PNC) for security checks for people looking to visit foreign countries.  I also gained experience in processing visa applications using Microsoft Excel.

July 2009- February 2010            Panel Member, Hampshire Youth Offending Team

In this role, I made decisions to punish and help rehabilitate offenders below the age of 18 who had committed petty crime in my neighbourhood.

January 2004- March 2005           Football Coach, Soccer City, Fareham,In this role, I was responsible for teaching children aged                                                                                                                            between 4-12 in basic football drills while also refereeing teams of children in matches. From a young age, this taught me skills such as patience and being a clear communicator to succeed in the role.
