Design Project and Dissertation
The design project entailed a full design of a berthing quay and dredged channel. This involved computing and
designing loadings, concrete reinforced structures, variable effects of the site as well as the provision of
reasoning as to why each element was chosen and the significance of their purpose.
The dissertation topic entailed the carbon footprint of construction materials. This involved finding a project
building, and after determining the amounts of materials - applying carbon emission factors to these
respective amounts. Measures to improve carbon emissions were also provided.
